Whenever asked what Church you go to and you respond that you go to a Church of Christ, alot of the time they will be like "oh so you don't believe I'm going to heaven cause I'm Baptist" or stuff along the lines of that. It kinda feels like something is aching deep inside saying that this is not how its supposed to be. I love this post. I went to the Church under the Bridge in Waco a few weeks ago and it was amazing. They do nothing like we do. But it was so different, but strangely familiar. I also went to the Mercy House and had church service there last saturday and loved it. Made lots of friends. It was just an amazing experience. BTW: I think we need to take off Church of Christ off of our sign in front of the building, because we are Christians. Not church of christ. thats just a political party.

Good Day :) God is Love, May you experience God's ...

Good Day :) God is Love, May you experience God's Love this Day, may we really learn to Praise him in all things :) Lets Share God's Love today :) You are Loved!

What a wonderful revelation! I love a God who can meet us right where we are...not condone our bad behavior (I'm speaking of me here) but not condem His beloved children when they "fall" into it. I have been struggling for many years now, with an area where I keep resorting to "lousy trust" in the Lord. I don't try to struggle with this. In fact, it's usually hardest when I think I've conquered this area and the Lord has to let me know that my instictive response when I am hurt is to withdraw from him. Yet, he always accepts me back with love and promise of future blessing. This so amazing. Good news! This time I didn't wallow in it for months and years. This time, within a week, I let him dry my tears, picked me up and helped me walk back into fellowship with him. Now mind you, I managed to separate myself from Him at the same time that I was decorating the church pews every sunday and teaching Sunday school, every week. What a blessing to experience such unconditional love! If I stay the course, I just might make it around this mountain and across the dessert in less than "40 years"...LOL... I loved your blog. I has helped me considerably!
jc

um, so did you give up on the blog thing?

um, so did you give up on the blog thing?

We are going into our third game of the season in ...

We are going into our third game of the season in church softball and I am batting 1.00

I guess that doesn't mean much went that only counts 3 at bats because I sit the bench a lot in church softball!

The healing stories are always about so much more ...

The healing stories are always about so much more than the healing itself. Where the disciples expressing the general idea of the day: “Bad things happen to people because of sin?”
2. The disciples know for some reason this man was blind from birth, but do not name him, so was their concern for this particular person or were they using him as an example?
3. Is this another example of Jesus answering the real question on the hearts of those asking and not necessarily the exact question being verbalized?
4. There are lots of reasons Jesus does not give and yet others have given for “needy people in this world”. Christ does not blame Adam and Eve, Satan, fate, God, the sinful world, or bad genes. So can we conclude these are not the reasons?
5. Would the disciples’ reason for all other needy people (beside this blind man) have been the same as for this man?
6. Would Jesus not address the bigger general question?
7. Could the reason Jesus gave for this one man being needy, be the same reason for all needy people?
8. Did God allow satan to blind this man at birth or did God cause this man to be born blind? Did God want this man to be born blind? Was it God’s desire or His will that this man be born blind?
9. Was this man lucky or unlucky to be born blind? What if had never been healed because he lived in Dallas today would he have been lucky?
10. The question does get the man thinking on topic. Sometimes the question is better asked of the care takers, do they want him healed? He has been this way long enough that it is a part of who he is. So does The lame man realty want to change? If the lame man had expressed the idea that he deserved to be healed by God, since he had been there the longest would Christ have then been even able to heal him? Does the lame man have a part to play in this exchange of a free unwarranted gift?

John said:
I am surprised that the lame man follows Jesus' commands when he doesn't even know who he is.

He was already cured when Jesus asked him to get up, so what is the issue?

John asked:
And what is the deal with the Jewish leaders? Why would they be offended by a lame man being healed even if it is on the Sabbath?

The Jewish leaders were paid to advise and pray over the sick, blind, lame, and demon possessed. Jesus is cutting into their livelihood by healing them. That was work for them that they could not do on the Sabbath and here comes competition working on the Sabbath for free. Greed, revenge and power are all good reasons for some to murder.

John asked:
And why is it that they begin to persecute Jesus for doing good? See above.

John asked:
And what does all this mean for us? Where are we in the story?

That’s a good question. Why did Jesus just heal this one lame man, because it sounds like there were lots of people there? Can the Spirit lead us to the person that really wants to be healed? Does it matter to some and not to others? Are we the lame man that Jesus is asking, “Do you really want to change?” Do you want to be a modern day Lydia, Barnabas, Peter or Paul for I can make that of you?

I think of all the people in the bible, I can rela...

I think of all the people in the bible, I can relate to Thomas the most.
